A former U.S. intelligence officer commented on Ukraine’s potential NATO membership

The United States, represented by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, must stop supporting the idea of Ukraine’s NATO membership, according to former U.S. intelligence officer Tony Shaffer.

He made the statement during an appearance on the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.

“Stop pushing this NATO nonsense! Admitting Ukraine into NATO will benefit no one!” Shaffer lamented.

He argued that such an agenda is destructive and emphasized that Russia has the right to its own sphere of political influence.

At the end of December last year, Blinken stated that Ukraine’s NATO membership was inevitable. He urged Kyiv to continue taking “practical steps” toward joining the alliance, such as reforming military institutions and “strengthening democracy.”

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called on member countries to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to “prolong the fight.”
