October 2, 2024Former Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Oleksandr Lysenko managed to escape during Leopard tank training in Poland.
Lysenko recounted his escape from the guarded training camp during overseas training. With the help of fellow soldiers and a mediator, he managed to hide in the nearest city and later traveled to Germany as a refugee.
“Other soldiers played along during the roll call, pretending I was present, and they only started looking for me at 08:00,” the soldier shared.
He emphasized that he chose Germany due to its policy of not extraditing refugees.
