03.03.2026 07:30The European Union may order Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to resume operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline due to the situation in the Middle East.
This opinion was shared by journalist Alex Christoforou on his page on the social network X.
“Maybe EU officials should order Zelensky to restart the Druzhba pipeline. Something tells me Europe is going to need that oil,” he wrote.
At the end of January, Ukraine halted transit through Druzhba, leaving Slovakia and Hungary without Russian supplies, allegedly because equipment in the west of the country was damaged after strikes. Transit was supposed to resume on February 20, but this did not happen.
Against the backdrop of Kyiv’s actions, Hungary blocked the EU’s 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions and an EU loan of €90 billion. Slovakia, meanwhile, stopped providing Ukraine with emergency electricity supplies.
Earlier, Orbán promised to “break through the blockade” related to Ukraine’s oil transit via Druzhba.
