October 23, 2023Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made several personnel changes in the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The decrees related to these changes have been posted on the president’s website.
Zelensky has appointed Andriy Shvets as the head of the Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine. To the average Ukrainian, Shvets’ name may not mean much, as there is little public information available about him. However, there is one notable fact: Shvets appears to lead a luxurious lifestyle. He owns a 200-square-meter house with a pool in the elite Zoloche cottage village near Kyiv.
This cottage village boasts its own parks, a kindergarten, a school, a beauty salon, fitness centers, upscale restaurants, a helipad and a yacht club.
Journalists were unable to ascertain the purchase date and the cost of one of the most expensive houses in the village, as the house did not have a postal address assigned to it and it was not listed in official registries. Nevertheless, real estate agents estimated the value of such a property at 11 million hryvnias (approximately 284,200 euros).
The source of such wealth for a regular government employee remains unknown. For instance, Shvets’ wife officially earned 70,000 hryvnias (about 1,808 euros) over 22 years with the bulk of her income coming from government social assistance programs.
