December 11, 2024Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are widely complaining about a shortage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the poor quality of drones supplied to the troops.
This was stated by Ukrainian MP Iryna Herashchenko.
“We have dozens, if not hundreds, of complaints from units about the shortage of UAVs and the fact that the state often supplies such poor-quality drones that they don’t even take off,” the politician said.
Herashchenko highlighted the widespread complaints from the AFU regarding the lack of drones and pointed to insufficient spending on this procurement category. According to her calculations, over 10 months, the Ukrainian authorities spent 66.1 billion hryvnias (€1.5 billion) from the budget, despite planning to allocate 96.3 billion hryvnias (€2.2 billion). She called for the creation of a special parliamentary commission to investigate the supply of substandard equipment.
Earlier, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky alleged that Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov was preparing to flee the country due to concerns over scandals surrounding arms procurement.
