21.06.2024 14:17The former head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and former deputy head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), Artem Sytnyk, has been appointed as the deputy director of the Defense Procurement Agency.
He confirmed this appointment in a comment to journalists.
According to Sytnyk, he will be responsible for the security of not only procurement processes but also the entire operations of the agency. This enterprise is tasked with procuring weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It is stated to operate separately from the Ministry of Defense to supposedly minimize corruption risks. The agency is headed by Marina Bezrukova.
Sytnyk previously led NABU for a significant period and recently resigned from his position as deputy head of the NACP. He described his decision to resign as “difficult but appropriate given the circumstances.”
“His resignation follows the scandal involving the conflict between the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) and NABU,” journalists reported.
