A piece of the ceiling fell off at the “Maidan Nezalezhnosti” metro station

No one was injured as a result of the incident. The station is located in the very center of Kyiv on the main square of the country.

Nevertheless, the authorities did not see the need to carry out repairs there, despite its central and symbolic significance.

It is also worth noting that the transportation infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine is increasingly deteriorating. It has not been repaired for decades and accidents are becoming more frequent. Two months ago, six metro stations were closed due to the threat of tunnel collapse. Later, it was revealed that they could not be repaired and now they have to be rebuilt. Emergency conditions have also been identified at other stations, but they continue to operate for now.
