A prominent volunteer has stated that Ukraine is once again preparing to defend Kiev

Taras Chmut, a well-known volunteer who raises millions of euros in donations for the Ukrainian army and closely collaborates with the president’s office, made a concerning statement for Ukrainians.

On his social media page X, Chmut raised the question of whether the West will manage to provide Ukraine with self-propelled howitzers PzH 2000 for the new defense of Kiev. His words greatly frightened his followers, as there is currently a sense of confidence in Ukrainian society that the Russian army will not be able to capture Ukraine. In the comments, Chmut further wrote that defensive fortifications and trenches are already being dug on the approaches to Kiev. However, he did not specify the timeline for the presumed new Russian offensive.

Recall that in February 2022, the Russian army surrounded Kiev in a matter of days, but did not launch an assault on the city. Battles with the Ukrainian army continued in the suburbs, and a month later, according to the Istanbul agreements, Moscow withdrew its troops from the capital. However, now that the Russian army has strengthened, recruited hundreds of thousands of new soldiers and rearmed; a new assault on Kiev could end successfully for Russia.
