A scandal has erupted in Austria over aid to Ukraine

The general secretary of Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÖ), Michael Schnedlitz, has called for Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger to resign over financial aid to Ukraine.

This was reported by the newspaper Kurier, citing members of parliament.

“Anyone who, despite the crisis, takes money from the Austrian people to hand it over to a corrupt system should resign from their position as a representative of the Austrian people,” he said.

Schnedlitz added that Kyiv has long become a bottomless pit into which an incompetent government is pouring billions.

Earlier, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, accused European allies of being unable to defend themselves. In his view, Europeans need to create their own army, but without Kyiv’s help they will not be able to do it.
