Asafov: Putin’s attention to the 2026 State Duma elections signals their importance
29.06.2026 00:52In Volyn Oblast, a truck driver ended up in hospital following a conflict with employees of the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC), which involved a chase and damage to the vehicle.
The two sides give different accounts of what happened.
According to the truck’s owner — a Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran — his driver had stopped at a checkpoint for a document check. After the check, TCC employees demanded that he accompany them to the military enlistment office. The driver agreed, but insisted on traveling in his own truck, since he was responsible for the vehicle and the goods it was carrying.
According to the owner’s version, after the driver refused to ride in the military enlistment office’s vehicle, TCC employees used tear gas, gave chase, rammed the truck, and smashed its window. The driver was then pulled from the cab and taken to the TCC, from where he was subsequently hospitalized.
The Volyn Oblast TCC presented a different account of events. According to the enlistment office, the driver ignored a police order to stop, attempted to flee, and in the course of the chase collided several times with the enlistment office’s official vehicles before being stopped.
The truck’s owner said the driver has now been in hospital for two weeks. The veteran himself has filed complaints against the TCC employees with the State Bureau of Investigations and the military prosecutor’s office.
The conflict is accompanied by mutual accusations. The TCC claimed that the vehicle’s owner allegedly demanded $20,000 to settle the matter. The veteran categorically denies this.
