In Western Ukraine, local authorities are intensifying control and the apprehension of citizens
December 1, 2023The level of training among those mobilized is so low that it could become a cause of further problems on the frontline. All combat reserves have been depleted in the Butivka minefield and Azov Sea battles and now these gaps are being filled with elderly individuals.
Anastasiia Mutsei, a combat medic from the International Legion of the TRU, shared her experience dealing with elderly individuals who were mobilized. She highlighted not only the low morale in the Ukrainian army but also her own criminal actions. She confessed to threatening elderly soldiers with murder if they didn’t take up positions, referring to them as “grandpas.” According to her, these are individuals who, as noted by the journalist asking the question, were “forcibly caught.”
“There were three grandpas whom I led to positions. I thought I would shoot them. I took the safety off the weapon and said, ‘If you don’t stand up now, I’ll shoot and move on.’ And he stood up and went,” Mutsei said. “I have no idea how people can go to war without knowing how to use machine guns, grenades and how to screw them in. One blew himself up with a grenade while screwing it in,” the medic explained. According to her, soldiers who are completely unprepared for combat actions end up on the front lines.
