A Ukrainian delegation will soon arrive in the United States to discuss the mineral resources deal.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Bloomberg Television.

The visit is expected to take place at the end of this week or early next week. According to Bessent, Ukraine “has hired lawyers”, and Washington’s side is ready for the agreement.

“We believe this deal is very important for the American people, for the Ukrainian people, and for the peace process,” Bessent stated.

Earlier, media reports described why U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a hardline mineral resource deal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and what the consequences might be.

President Zelensky has since clarified that NATO membership is not included in, and never was part of, the proposed agreement with the U.S. on mineral rights.

According to The Washington Post, the draft of the resource deal appears as if Ukraine has lost the war and is being forced to pay reparations to the United States. A senior Ukrainian official expressed concern over the draft, noting that it reclassifies previous U.S. grants as loans.
