A Ukrainian National Guard soldier, while intoxicated, detonated a live grenade in Kyiv

In the early hours of Saturday, June 29, a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine, while intoxicated, detonated a live grenade in a courtyard in Kyiv.

Sources in law enforcement agencies reported this to journalists.

“The incident occurred on Miloslavska Street. A junior sergeant took out an M-67 grenade and threw it in the courtyard of an apartment building. The grenade fragments damaged 11 cars, as well as the facade and windows of the ‘Coral’ shopping center. No people were injured,” the source said.

The source also added that after the serviceman was detained, a search was conducted at his home, where a large number of ammunition items were found.

“In the serviceman’s apartment, 2 artillery shells with a caliber of 30 millimeters were seized, along with 4 magazines for an automatic rifle, one of which contained 30 rounds. Additionally, an F-1 grenade body, two detonators, 4 M-67 grenades, and a round for an under-barrel grenade launcher were found,” the source stated, adding that a criminal case has been opened regarding this incident.

The serviceman faces three to seven years in prison.

Recently in Kyiv, a man threw a grenade into his brother’s apartment over a dispute about the property.
