29.06.2024 - 14:01Currently, there are categories of men under 25 in Ukraine who can be mobilized.
This was stated by human rights activist, head of the Ukrainian Human Rights Protection Center, and former Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova.
She noted that there are three categories of young people under 25 who can be mobilized:
- Those liable for military service under 25 who have completed military training and are reserve officers but are not currently studying for a master’s degree.
- Those liable for military service who have previously completed conscripted service (except for the most recent demobilization of conscripts, who will not be mobilized for a year).
- Individuals who were registered at draft stations under the old legislation and were classified as unfit for military service in peacetime or fit with limitations in wartime.
Denisova believes that this situation is socially unjust. Those who have not served, do not have a military specialty, and were not deemed fit with limitations are not subject to mobilization until the age of 25, while others are.
It is worth recalling that in the Vinnytsia region, 19-year-old Vadym Yashchuk, who has heart problems, was mobilized and sent to a training ground. At the same time, his twin brother, who was deemed fit and has no health issues, was released.
Previously, it was reported that universities in the Lviv region will provide territorial recruitment centers with lists of expelled students who are subject to mobilization.
