04.06.2024 - 15:09Ukrainian military personnel report significant losses as a result of an assault near Kupiansk, accusing the command of “reckless assault actions, poor planning and communication of operational information and underestimating the enemy’s strength and capabilities.”
This was reported by soldier Oleh Tkachenko on social media.
He described that a company of soldiers was ordered to assault the village of Ivanivka. Intelligence had indicated that there were 10-15 Russian soldiers without armored vehicles. They were promised that drones would be suppressed using electronic warfare (EW).
“In reality, there were about 100-150 enemy soldiers in the village, supported by two BMPs and a tank. The promised EW was not available, and the enemy drones had complete air superiority. As a result, 5 soldiers were killed almost immediately, some due to munitions dropped by enemy UAVs. Eleven were wounded,” Tkachenko reported.
Under constant fire and without fortifications, the survivors retrieved the bodies of the fallen but were only able to evacuate them on the fourth day after contacting higher authorities and publicizing the situation.
Tkachenko listed the names and published photos of the deceased.
Recently, Ukrainian commanders have stated that the basic training of new recruits barely covers the fundamentals. According to officers, this often forces them to spend weeks teaching basic skills, such as shooting.
