‘Europe promises a lot to Kyiv but does not do enough’, – The Economist reported
January 26, 2024The conflict in Ukraine is entering a new phase.
This information according to the French newspaper Le Monde.
“After the failure of Kiev’s counteroffensive in the summer of 2023, the Ukrainian General Staff made a decision: the front is now frozen, and it will remain so for a long time,” the publication states.
According to the newspaper, neither side has the means to cross the fortified enemy lines and achieve a breakthrough.
With this situation in place and Russian military establishing a triple defense line, Ukrainians are now digging trenches in the positions they find themselves in, “isolating their living space.”
Furthermore, reconnaissance drones are constantly in the air: according to British military sources, Russian forces can now shell a target just three to six minutes after detection. Creating strategic unpredictability on the front is now impossible, say experts.
Unable to break through the front, Ukrainian forces are intensifying missile and drone fire on Crimea and more distant areas of Russia, reports the newspaper.
