October 17, 2024The head of the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksiy Oleinik, who had confirmed that 48 local prosecutors had obtained disability status, has resigned voluntarily.
This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
It was also announced that an internal investigation is underway regarding the issuance of disability status to prosecutors from the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Recently, Ukrainian media reported that nearly fifty prosecutors in Khmelnytsky had been granted second-degree disability status. The Office of the Prosecutor General has launched an investigation into this information.
According to the press, the findings about the poor health of these prosecutors were signed by Tetiana Krupa, the chief doctor of the Medical-Social Expert Commission (MSEK), who has been arrested on suspicion of corruption.
Oleinik denied that the prosecutor’s office had been involved in covering up Krupa’s corruption scheme. Earlier reports indicated that authorities in Khmelnytsky seized eight million hryvnias from doctors who had been receiving payments for issuing fake disability certificates.
