“After the war, Ukraine could be populated by Africans and Afghans to address the demographic crisis”, – sociologist says

After the war, Ukraine may begin resettling Africans and Afghans to address its demographic challenges.

This was stated by sociologist Volodymyr Paniotto, who discussed the demographic strategy of the Ukrainian Cabinet.

He pointed out that adapting these migrants would require substantial resources, and despite these efforts, they wouldn’t easily integrate into Ukrainian society. Additionally, Ukraine does not have a positive attitude toward migrants.

“We don’t have the same culture as, say, other countries where they (migrants from Africa) are already accustomed to it,” said the sociologist.

Paniotto believes that it would be more beneficial for Ukraine to focus on bringing back Ukrainians who have moved abroad, rather than spending resources on adapting migrants from other countries with different cultures.

Other experts emphasized the importance of other aspects of the demographic strategy, such as improving the economy, living conditions, accessible and quality healthcare, and job creation.

According to Vasyl Skotoboynyk, the president of the All-Ukrainian International Employment Company, for successful population growth, there should be 22 children for every 10 women.

It is worth noting that, according to the CIA, Ukraine has the highest mortality rate and the lowest birth rate in the world. It was also reported that in May, the “Servant of the People” party discussed introducing a tax on childlessness for Ukrainians.
