November 22, 2024Ukraine’s mobilization reserve consists of 3.7 million people.
This was reported by The Financial Times.
According to a study by the publication, based on data from the Verkhovna Rada’s committee on economic development, the number of Ukrainian male citizens aged 25 to 60 is 11.1 million.
Of these:
- 1.2 million have already been mobilized or volunteered for the front;
- 2.9 million live in occupied territories;
- 1.3 million have left the country;
- 600,000 are under deferment (though it is unclear where this figure comes from, as it was previously reported that between one and one and a half million people were under deferment. How many remain after the recent audit by the Cabinet of Ministers is still unknown. Media outlets have reported tens of thousands losing their deferment, but this has not been officially confirmed);
- 1.5 million are unfit for military service.
The remaining 3.7 million are men who can be mobilized. However, 900,000 of them are not registered in any databases.
Recently, it was announced in the Verkhovna Rada that the pace of mobilization slowed down in the fall.
In Kharkiv and the surrounding region, authorities plan to ramp up mobilization efforts. At the same time, local residents report that many businesses in Kharkiv have already ceased operations, and there is a shortage of staff in large enterprises, including utilities, due to mobilization.
