September 28, 2023The right-wing Confederation Party is gaining popularity in Poland.
The party opposes migrants, LGBT and aid to Ukraine. One of the party leaders, Krzysztof Bosak, said that Ukrainian-Polish cooperation is based on the naivety of Warsaw.
The Confederation’s strongest support comes from Polish youth who want change in the country’s political landscape. As the crisis in Polish-Ukrainian relations developed, the party’s popularity grew. According to polls, 15% of the population is currently ready to vote for the Confederacy. If the party gets the same number of votes in the upcoming elections, it will become the third largest party in parliament.
The ruling Law and Justice party also adheres to right-wing views, which creates the possibility of creating a coalition between it and the Confederation. This could have an extremely negative impact on assistance to Kyiv.
