February 26, 2024In the USA, an investigation has been launched against senior Senate staffer Kyle Parker for allegedly supplying sniper gear to the Ukrainian Armed Forces worth $30,000 and making frequent trips to the Ukrainian front.
The New York Times reports this.
Kyle Parker serves as a senior advisor to the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, known as the Helsinki Commission, which actively supports Ukraine. Additionally, he hired a Ukrainian official to work on a U.S. government grant, despite objections from congressional representatives regarding ethics and security. He also traveled along the Ukrainian front lines in camouflage attire and with Ukrainian military insignia.
Investigators believe that the transfer of weapons could potentially render him an unregistered foreign agent, as he has “voluntarily or involuntarily become a target and subject of foreign intelligence use.” The case may be handed over to the FBI.
Parker’s representative stated that he has done nothing wrong and is the target of a “retribution campaign” for allegations of misconduct against the authors of the report.
The Chairman of the Helsinki Commission recommended Parker’s dismissal to protect national security, citing “serious alleged misconduct involving Ukrainian and other foreign individuals.”
