An investigation into the death of a man with epilepsy taken to the military enlistment office has begun in the Ternopil region

The police of the Ternopil region and the special prosecutor’s office are investigating the death of a man after his stay at the territorial recruiting center in the city of Buchach.

It is reported that a 49-year-old resident of Chortkiv district died after an epileptic seizure. Police report that there were no signs of violent death on the body. However, villagers of the deceased gathered at the Buchach city hall yesterday, February 29, demanding clarification. The mayor of the city and the military commissar came out to talk to them (as seen in the video).

The sister of the deceased stated that her brother was taken to the territorial recruiting center on Sunday.

“He called and said that he was taken to the draft board. He didn’t know anything, just waiting. I told him several times – whoever comes to you, tell them you have epilepsy, you’ve been in the hospital. My brother said that no one came to him and asked anything,” the woman said.

On Tuesday, the man’s mother was informed over the phone by the territorial recruiting center that he was in the intensive care unit. Relatives went to the hospital and learned that the man was in a coma. He died on February 29.

The sister of the deceased says that he had been hospitalized twice because of epilepsy, which is confirmed by documents.
