August 25, 2023Ukraine uncovers corruption scheme implicating top officials – POLITICO
August 25, 2023Ukraine’s National Agency for Corruption Prevention has uncovered signs of “illicit enrichment” totaling more than 14 million hryvnias (353,000 euros) in the case of the deputy military commissioner of Odessa.
This was reported by Ukraine’s National Agency for Corruption Prevention.
The agency monitored the lifestyle of Denis Halushka, and according to their findings, Halushka’s mother and mother-in-law acquired cars, residential houses, and land plots in 2022. His son also became the owner of a 563,000 hryvnias apartment in Odessa. In the past autumn, Halushka’s wife purchased a Mazda CX-5, and in the summer of 2023, she added a Mercedes-Benz V-CLASS to the family’s car fleet, as reported by Ukraine’s National Agency for Corruption Prevention.
Based on their findings, the agency concluded that the military commissioner and his close relatives “lack legitimate income to acquire the mentioned property,” leading them to forward this information to the specialized prosecutor’s office in the region.
