15.01.2024 11:18This year, the UN is requesting 3.8 billion euros to aid people in Ukraine and those displaced outside the country. According to their statement, those on the front lines have “depleted their meager resources,” and many refugees abroad are also vulnerable.
About three-quarters of this amount (2.8 billion euros) is designated to support around 8.5 million people within Ukraine. The remaining 1 billion euros are allocated for refugees and host communities outside Ukraine. The UN states that 14.6 million people in the country require humanitarian assistance and approximately 6.3 million people have left Ukraine and remain as refugees.
The UN reported that donors covered 67% of last year’s amount, totaling 3.5 billion euros for the residents of Ukraine, which is considered one of the best figures globally. They acknowledged that “competition for funding is intensifying” due to crises in other places, including the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
