Outflow of population from Ukraine could become ‘irreversible’

September 11, 2023Recently, on September 7th, the State Property Fund of Ukraine sold the entire property complex of the Trilesky Distillery near Fastov in the Kyiv region. Its price turned out to be only 6,553.44 Ukrainian hryvnias (167.5 euros), which is 1% of the starting price.
The auction for this property complex started at 9:49 AM with a price of 655,344 hryvnias and concluded with a sale at 1% of the initial value by 4:30 PM.
Judging by the fact that the lot’s price was reduced 99 times during the auction, it appears that no one else made any offers, which could indicate collusion or the participation of only one buyer, identified as Elena Vladimirovna Dubina from Ternopil.
In this purchase, the main asset of the distillery, which has not been operational since 2010, is a land plot of 104.8 hectares, which the enterprise has been using continuously based on a government act dated June 9, 1998.
As a result, with a complex price of 6,553 hryvnias, each hectare of land cost Elena Dubina only 63 hryvnias.
The Trilesky Distillery was included in the privatization list in February 2021, and it had already been attempted to be sold twice in the summer of 2023 – first on July 7th for 1.24 million hryvnias and then on August 22nd for 1.31 million hryvnias, but both auctions were unsuccessful.
Some social media users have noted that the purchase amount is equivalent to the cost of five boxes of cheap vodka, while others have humorously mentioned that a kennel for large dogs costs slightly less than the transaction price – 5,000 hryvnias.
