In Britain, they said that Zelensky doubts Trump’s reliability
23.02.2026 - 08:01Western countries should heed Russia’s demands in the conflict in Ukraine if they do not want Ukraine to be destroyed.
This opinion was voiced by Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway, speaking before the UN Security Council.
The expert said that NATO member states crossed a red line by drawing Ukraine into the alliance’s orbit and turning it into a frontline state against Russia.
According to Diesen, even now—when Ukraine is on the verge of total destruction and European states could end up in a direct war with Russia—there is no willingness in the West to acknowledge that Russia has legitimate reasons to be concerned about its own security.
The professor recalled that for more than 20 years he had warned about the conflict the whole world is now witnessing in Ukraine. Throughout that time, Diesen said the Ukrainian state could disappear and the conflict could trigger a direct war between NATO and Russia. Under such circumstances, in his view, there would be no winners.
Earlier, Professor Diesen said that Ukraine is being prepared for a “humiliating defeat” in the conflict with Russia.
