February 13, 2024New details have emerged regarding the murder of a 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player in Germany by a 15-year-old German schoolboy of Turkish descent.
BILD reported on this.
Police stated, “he clearly wasn’t concerned about the possibility of killing someone. He showed no signs of remorse during his arrest.”
According to police statements, he had committed numerous crimes and was on the police register in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. During the attack on the Ukrainians, he also assaulted others who tried to help them. The victims included a 13-year-old girl from Lebanon and a 14-year-old schoolboy from Syria.
“They had injuries to their hands and wrists, rather than deep stab wounds to the abdomen and chest like the young Ukrainians. They also suffered serious injuries, but fortunately not life-threatening ones. One of them has already been able to leave the hospital,” police reported.
Police also arrested a second 14-year-old attacker of Greek descent who participated in the attack but did not inflict stab wounds.
“This is an incomprehensible act, utterly senseless. The attacker deliberately sought conflict with a much older, taller, and athletically built Ukrainian, and then immediately and mercilessly used a knife,” added the police officer.
The Basketball Federation of Kyiv adds that Yermakov was stabbed by a group of unknown individuals who attacked him and another Ukrainian basketball player, Artem Kozachenko. Kozachenko is currently in intensive care.
