Austria stated the impossibility of ‘containing’ Russia through Ukraine’s Euro-integration

Europe is helping Ukraine to “contain Russia” and prevent it from reaching its borders. But Ukraine’s accession to the EU will precisely create this situation.

This was stated by the chairman of the oppositional right-conservative Austrian Freedom Party, Herbert Kickl.

Kickl stated that Brussels supports Ukraine’s Eurointegration allegedly to contain Russia, but such a policy will have the opposite effect. He also pointed out that the EU justifies military aid to Kiev by saying that Ukraine “must necessarily win, otherwise Russia will be right at the EU’s borders,” and called these arguments absurd.

“If European politicians seriously thought about it (the absurdity of the idea of Ukraine’s membership) or thought it through to the end, they wouldn’t even entertain the idea of ​​Ukraine joining the EU. After all, it would create the very situation that is supposedly being prevented, which is touted as the main reason for billions in payouts and weapon supplies to Ukraine,” Kickl said.

According to the politician, the EU needs to advocate for peaceful negotiations, and Austria should act as a peaceful mediator. Earlier, the European Commission could not outline the next steps for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
