The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published a new list of diseases determining unsuitability for service
May 3, 2024The US President Joe Biden won’t be emphasizing assistance to Ukraine in his pre-election rhetoric because the electorate is “concerned about economic issues.”
This was reported by the American newspaper Politico.
The president’s team “is prepared to make America’s commitment to the war in Ukraine less public,” “without relentless PR to bolster support for the war in Ukraine in the coming months,” the publication reports. Biden will also largely refrain from statements that Eastern Europe is facing military risks (presumably in the event of Ukrainian Armed Forces suffering defeat).
“This could further undermine domestic support for the war itself, virtually close the door to any additional funding, and complicate a key component of Biden’s presidential legacy: maintaining America’s long-standing role as a central pillar of the global democratic order,” the article states.
Biden’s camp also fears that excessive statements on Ukraine will amplify the voices of those opposed to military aid to Kiev. Therefore, “it makes sense to focus attention on other issues that are of greater immediate concern to American voters.”
In contrast, Ukraine will be used in pre-election rhetoric as a means of attacking Donald Trump. Voters will be made to understand that if Trump returns to power, the US will face “foreign policy crises.” Trump’s alleged inclination to “submit to dictators like Putin” will also be presented in the context of Ukraine.
Recall that earlier, The Wall Street Journal wrote that during Trump’s presidency, he referred to Ukraine as “part of Russia” and criticized it for corruption. Trump also promised that if he became president again, he would not give money to Ukraine, and without the US, Europe would not be able to finance the war, and it would end.
