The European Union expects international partners, including Georgia, to isolate Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell at a press conference in Tbilisi, where he is on a visit.
“We support Ukraine and will continue to support it as long as necessary. It is extremely important that our international partners coordinate efforts to isolate Russia. Therefore, we welcome your efforts to combat the circumvention of sanctions,” he said.
Georgia has currently fulfilled three of the 12 conditions set by the European Commission to obtain the status of an EU candidate country, a lot of work remains to be done, said Borrell, who arrived in Tbilisi on a visit.
