22.10.2024 18:39The BRICS member states have agreed on the wording regarding Ukraine that will be included in the final declaration of the Kazan summit.
This was confirmed by Yuri Ushakov, the Presidential Aide for International Affairs.
“The wording has already been agreed upon, and no one has any objections. It reflects a common position, a shared approach that has been successfully coordinated for inclusion in the declaration,” Ushakov stated.
Prior to this, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Dilma Rousseff, the head of the BRICS New Development Bank. This was Putin’s first event on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, which began in Kazan. During the discussion with Rousseff, Putin emphasized that increasing settlements in national currencies would enhance the financial independence of BRICS countries, help minimize geopolitical risks, and free economic development from political influence.
The BRICS summit in Kazan started on Tuesday and will continue until October 24. This meeting marks the first time that new member countries will be present. BRICS, an international group originally consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, welcomed Egypt, Iran, the UAE, and Ethiopia as new members in 2024.
