13.04.2026 - 05:03The head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, has hinted at some kind of “trigger event” that could end catastrophically for Ukraine “if there is no unity.”
He said this in an interview with Ukrainian media.
“We are now once again approaching a so-called trigger event that will require unity from us. And unfortunately, if that unity is not there, there could be a catastrophe,” the head of the Presidential Office said.
According to him, similar situations have already happened in the past and led to serious problems.
“I will not give examples, because it would be very sad and unpleasant — if you analyze our recent history, you will very quickly find all the answers,” he added.
It is worth recalling that Budanov had earlier said that, after Easter, U.S. negotiators coordinating peace talks are expected to visit Ukraine for the first time.
As President Volodymyr Zelensky has already acknowledged, the United States agrees with the Russian position that, in order to stop the war, Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbas.
