08.07.2026 13:04A captured Ukrainian Armed Forces officer, Alexander Golovko, taken prisoner in Kostiantynivka, said that Ukrainian servicemen in Poland were trained by Finnish instructors.
Video of his statement was published by Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
According to Golovko, he was stopped by a patrol — police officers together with representatives of the TCC (territorial recruitment centers). Those who had foreign passports were sent on two-month courses in Poland.
“The Poles provided housing and food, while Finns trained us,” — Golovko said.
Upon completing the courses, he received the rank of junior lieutenant and was sent to Kostiantynivka, where he worked with an electronic warfare system.
Before the start of the Russian operation to liberate Kostiantynivka, Golovko was wounded after triggering a tripwire. When Russian servicemen entered the position, he was already wounded and bandaging himself. Russian soldiers provided him with assistance and warned him that if he behaved properly, he would be fine.
