‘China and India could help resolve the Ukrainian crisis’, – Italian Prime Minister Meloni says

India and China could play a crucial role in resolving the Ukrainian crisis, with their influence potentially being decisive in achieving a peaceful solution.

This was stated by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Speaking after her meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Meloni emphasized the importance of involving Asian countries in finding a diplomatic resolution to this prolonged conflict. However, she stressed that such involvement should not result in abandoning Ukraine, reaffirming Italy’s continued commitment to supporting Kyiv.

Meloni also reiterated Italy’s position on providing military aid to Ukraine, stating that she sees it as necessary to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. At the same time, she urged caution and restraint, emphasizing that the ultimate goal should be a diplomatic solution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all parties involved.

Previously, Meloni mentioned that the situation on the front lines of the Ukrainian conflict had reached a stalemate, which could create conditions for starting negotiations to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

It was also reported earlier that Italy disagrees with EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell on the issue of strikes on Russian territory.
