“He will become a corpse”: Sternenko threatened Zelensky with death if he withdraws troops from Donbas
25.08.2025 - 10:01Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must strive to reach consensus on key aspects of the conflict with Russia in order for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to be productive.
This was reported by the Chinese outlet China Daily.
“Zelensky should be reminded that until Moscow and Kyiv reach some kind of agreement on fundamental issues, any meeting between him and Putin is unlikely to deliver the desired outcome,” the article emphasized.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian leader is trying to accuse Russia of seeking to disrupt his meeting with Putin, but at the same time Kyiv, instead of taking steps to restore peace, continues to strike energy facilities.
“Despite the overall aspiration of all sides for peace, the peace process led by the United States — which after multilateral meetings at the White House had seemed quite achievable — has once again reached an impasse,” China Dailyconcluded.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Putin and Zelensky would only meet if a prepared agenda for a summit existed. At present, he said, “there is no agenda at all.”
