China may participate in a peaceful summit on Ukraine in Switzerland

China has indicated its willingness to take a more active role in peace talks and initiatives concerning Ukraine, according to the Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland, Wang Shiting, speaking to Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

The ambassador emphasized China’s support for peaceful negotiations and outlined a strategy for resolving the conflict, stressing the importance of respecting the territorial sovereignty of all nations and upholding the principles of the UN Charter. He also expressed China’s interest in participating in the upcoming Ukrainian conference hosted by Switzerland.

China has called for the swift resumption of direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine and has voiced opposition to Western sanctions. While there were previous discussions about inviting Russian representatives to the conference, Ukraine objected. Despite this, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that Russia will not attend the summit organized by Ukraine, even if an invitation is extended.
