22.03.2025 12:57China may participate in a peacekeeping mission for Ukraine. This option is being considered in Brussels.
This was reported by Welt am Sonntag, citing sources in EU diplomatic circles.
According to the information, Chinese representatives held informal consultations in the Belgian capital, during which they inquired about how European countries would respond to such a scenario.
Diplomats noted that China’s participation could help increase the acceptability of a peacekeeping mission for Russia.
“China’s joining the ‘coalition of the willing’ could increase the likelihood that Russia would agree to the presence of peacekeepers in Ukraine,” diplomatic sources in Brussels stated.
It is emphasized that this issue remains “extremely sensitive” at the moment.
As a reminder, the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Xi Jinping, declined to attend the EU-China anniversary summit, which will take place in Brussels, Belgium.
