China proposes to hold an international conference to resolve the Ukrainian crisis

Against the backdrop of China’s Special Representative Li Huey’s trip to Russia, Ukraine, and Europe to address the Ukrainian conflict, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs announced a new initiative.

“China supports convening an international peace conference, to which both Ukraine and Russia will agree, where all parties will participate on an equal footing and will have the opportunity to impartially and honestly discuss all peace plans,” said Wang Yi.

Consistently refraining from intervening in the war, Beijing advocates for peace. However, according to the United States, China has taken a pro-Russian stance, increasing trade after the imposition of Western sanctions and supplying components for a wide range of armaments. It’s worth noting that China also disregards the so-called peace formula proposed by Zelensky, in which Russia is also not participating. Meanwhile, Beijing is now putting forward its own initiative for peace establishment.
