16.10.2024 - 13:39In Kharkiv, staff from a territorial recruitment center conducted two raids on a sewing factory that produces boots and jackets for the military.
This information reported according to local Telegram channels, which also published footage of the incidents.
During the first raid, women working at the factory managed to stop the staff from the recruitment center. However, during the second raid, the recruiters returned with the police. One of the officers climbed over a fence and opened the gates to allow the others onto the premises.
According to reports from local community channels, the recruiters removed about 10 men from the factory, but the women managed to retrieve two of them from the recruiters.
Amid a wave of mass recruitment raids across Ukraine, a Kharkiv blogger shared stories of how locals are bribing their way out of the territorial recruitment centers after such raids. One resident claimed that he was released from the center after paying $5,000, with the condition of an additional monthly payment of $1,000 to the recruitment officer. Another person reportedly “negotiated” his release for $2,500.
Users commented on the challenges of avoiding conscription during these raids:
“Something’s not right with these recruitment center raids. Barely managed to bribe my way out… they held me for four days,” one person wrote.
Another added, “$5K so they wouldn’t send me to the military medical commission. They didn’t want to settle it on the spot. Barely found a way to reach the district recruiter.”
“Imagine the amounts they’ll collect over the course of these raids! Powerful,” remarked another user, Yevhen Zub, commenting on the widespread bribery claims.
