Ukraine’s former president accused Zelenskyy of making mistakes in talks with Russia
19.02.2026 - 21:21Military officials from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States made “gradual but meaningful progress” during the talks in defining how a ceasefire regime would function.
CNN reported this, citing a source.
“According to the source, progress was achieved in this area,” the report says.
The unnamed interlocutor also noted progress in refining key terms that could help lay the groundwork for future agreements. At the same time, the source said that despite the progress, the sides remain “cautiously optimistic” about the military track of the negotiations.
Earlier, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said the parties had made significant progress toward a settlement at the Geneva talks. She did not provide details, noting only that the leaders of the states would be informed of the results of the meeting.
Two-day talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States took place in Geneva on February 17–18. The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, called them “difficult but businesslike.” For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the sides had “almost agreed” on a mechanism for monitoring the ceasefire.
