CNN video: Ukraine’s Patriot systems near Kyiv have been without missiles for six weeks

Footage of empty Patriot air defense systems deployed in a cornfield near Kyiv has appeared online.

The video was published by CNN.

According to CNN, Ukraine has nearly exhausted its supply of missiles for the Patriot systems. The launcher shown in the report had not fired in about six weeks. The presence of the system itself without interceptor missiles renders it useless, the channel notes.

CNN attributes the missile shortage to a global deficit that was exacerbated by their large-scale use during the war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Earlier, Trump declined to fulfill Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to transfer hundreds of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, citing their shortage as a result of the conflict with Iran.

Zelensky stated that the United States would provide Ukraine with interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems on a monthly basis, but said the quantities would still be insufficient.

European countries, as Western media report, are also in no hurry to transfer such missiles to Ukraine, fearing the depletion of their own stockpiles.
