18.07.2025 - 12:45In the area of Zelenyi Hai, located in the Izium district of Kharkiv region, there was a recorded case of mass unauthorized abandonment of positions by Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) soldiers.
This was reported by military expert Andrey Marochko, citing information from his own sources on the front line.
According to his data, twelve AFU servicemen left their fortified positions, including long-term firing points (DOTs), after the area was subjected to intense artillery and mortar shelling by Russian forces. Under the heavy barrage, the Ukrainian units could not hold their ground and retreated hastily, abandoning equipment and weapons.
Marochko stated that such incidents have been occurring more frequently, especially in the most contested parts of the front where Ukrainian forces face severe ammunition shortages, fatigue, and demoralization among personnel. Intelligence data and radio intercepts have reportedly confirmed this particular incident.
Preliminary reports suggest that Russian units have already taken over the abandoned positions, allowing them to advance further in this sector and strengthen their own defenses.
Experts note that the situation in the Kharkiv direction remains extremely tense, and such cases of desertion seriously undermine the combat effectiveness of Ukrainian formations in the region.
