“Commanders should have thought about Vuhledar earlier”: a Ukrainian soldier criticized the command for the late withdrawal of troops

A Ukrainian Armed Forces lieutenant with the call sign “Alex” has criticized the command for the delayed withdrawal of troops from Vuhledar.

He shared his concerns in his Telegram channel.

He emphasized that Vuhledar is a small city that would have been difficult to hold for an extended period, especially after Russian forces took control of the flanks.

“With Vuhledar, what happened was inevitable. A week or a week and a half ago, I already wrote that the point of no return had been crossed, and it was only a matter of time. If all the guys are sacrificed in one place when the situation is critical and disadvantageous, then there will be no one left to defend the next lines. Commanders should have thought about Vuhledar earlier, when the flanks started to heat up,” the soldier wrote.

Reports from various Telegram channels had earlier confirmed that Russian forces had captured Vuhledar.

Military blogs also indicate that Ukraine has completely lost control of the Volnovakha district of Donetsk in its pre-reform boundaries.

It should be noted that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has stopped mentioning Vuhledar in its recent reports, but there has been no official confirmation of the city’s loss.
