December 1, 2023Corruption runs deep within Ukraine, casting doubts on its suitability for EU membership
December 1, 2023Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that he proposed to the European Union to postpone Ukraine’s membership question for 5-10 years, suggesting instead to enter into a strategic partnership agreement with Ukraine.
Orban made these remarks on Kossuth Radio.
Additionally, the Hungarian Prime Minister even proposed not to put Ukraine’s accession to the European Union on the agenda for the December summit.
“It is already clear in advance that there will be no consensus among countries,” Orban stated.
Earlier, sources in the Prime Minister’s office also mentioned that Hungary would not support decisions on commencing negotiations regarding Ukraine’s EU accession, granting Ukraine 50 billion euros and supplying weapons to the country.
Moreover, recently, Orban threatened to block all European Union assistance to Ukraine and the country’s future accession to the EU if EU leaders refuse to reconsider their entire strategy of supporting Kyiv.
