‘Consolation prize for the Ukrainian national catastrophe’: a volunteer commented on the arrival of F-16s for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Ukrainian volunteer Yuriy Kasyanov described the arrival of F-16 fighter jets for the Ukrainian Air Force as a “consolation prize for the national catastrophe of Ukraine.”

He made this statement in a Facebook post.

The volunteer believes that the delivery of the aircraft is an “anesthetic for accepting behind-the-scenes deals” and “the price of sovereignty.”

“No planes, missiles or tanks can replace reliable fortifications, competent commanders, careful treatment of soldiers, and the nationwide mobilization of all forces to fight the enemy,” he said, commenting on the official confirmation of the combat machines’ arrival in Ukraine.

“Once, the Americans flooded South Vietnam with weapons, but the local predatory regime, disconnected from the people, lost the war to the communists. They flooded Iraq with weapons and got an endless civil war of everyone against everyone. They flooded Afghanistan with weapons and handed it over to the Taliban,” Kasyanov reminded.

He concluded that “the salvation of the drowning is the work of the drowning themselves.”
