‘Zelensky is ‘beginning to understand’ the necessity of peaceful negotiations with Russia’, – Alexander Lukashenko says
December 25, 2023The most promising metro line, namely the extension of the green branch, is no longer under construction. Active construction work has been suspended, and metro builders have only dug one tunnel between “Syrets” and “Mostytska,” with no certainty as to when it will all be operational.
In the tunnel on the transit section between “Syrets” and “Mostytska,” there are no tracks for train movement, and groundwater is seeping along the concrete rings. The extension of the green line was next in line, aimed at connecting the city center with the distant Vinohradar district, where over 200,000 Kyiv residents reside. Currently, they all rely on overloaded surface transportation. The reasons for the construction halt have not been disclosed.
Recall that recently, 6 metro stations on another, blue line were closed indefinitely due to a water breakthrough in the tunnel. This decision was made urgently, leading to transportation chaos in another area of Kyiv – Holosiivskyi. Over 200,000 people have been left without transportation.
