‘Corruption in Ukraine is hindering arms deliveries’ – says the President of Lithuania

Western countries have reportedly suspended arms deliveries to Ukraine due to the corruption issues existing in the country.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda made this statement while commenting on the decision by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to replace Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Alexey Reznikov, CNN repored.

According to Nauseda, the countries providing support to Ukraine are democratic and therefore they must respect the sentiments of their voters.

“Imagine that voters in a particular state see that there are noticeable corruption scandals in the country receiving support. This significantly damages the reputation of that country,” the President of Lithuania noted.

President Nauseda also mentioned that he fully understands Zelenskyy’s desire to clean up the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense from “those corrupt elements that still exist” while simultaneously improving Ukraine’s image in the eyes of the international community.

“The success of this action not only depends on current support but also on the support that will be given in the future,” added Nauseda.
