This was reported by analysts from the EastFruit project.
Tomatoes, by contrast, continue to fall in price: they are being sold at 65–85 UAH/kg, compared to 70–100 UAH/kg the previous week. The cost of sweet peppers also dropped noticeably — from 125–170 to 100–120 UAH/kg.
Young white cabbage rose in price from 15–18 to 27–30 UAH/kg. New potatoes, by contrast, fell in price — from 35–65 to 18–65 UAH/kg. Old potatoes added one hryvnia and now cost 14–17 UAH/kg. Onions rose by 3 hryvnias, or 20%, to 16–18 UAH/kg. The price range for eggplants narrowed sharply: from 100–190 to 120–130 UAH/kg.
In the fruit and berry segment, pear prices rose noticeably — from 45–80 to 65–90 UAH/kg. Strawberries went up from 70–120 to 90–180 UAH/kg, and sweet cherries from 70–110 to 130–190 UAH/kg.
Deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk predicts that vegetables will be cheap only during the summer, and could rise in price by up to 15% as early as autumn. Meat, he said, could increase in price by up to 20%, and the overall rise in bread prices over the year will amount to 25%.
Deputy director general of the Milk Producers Association Yelena Zhupinas noted that consumption of dairy products traditionally declines in summer, so retail chains will offer promotional discounts on this product group. This will affect most of all products with a high fat content — butter and sour cream.
