‘Instead of helping Ukraine, American dollars will only prolong its traged’, – American Conservative
24.04.2024 21:41The delivery of the first batch of American military aid after the hiatus may be delayed by 2-3 months, and it will take even longer to reach the front lines.
This was reported by The Associated Press, citing Ukrainian MP Vadim Ivchenko.
According to Ivchenko, logistical problems and bureaucracy could delay deliveries to Ukraine by two to three months, and even more time will pass before they reach the front lines.
Meanwhile, as stated by David Arakhamia, the leader of the parliamentary “Servant of the People” faction, “what comes first is not always what frontline commanders need the most.”
He said that even for a military giant like the United States, there are not enough reserves of everything needed.
The agency emphasizes that at the moment, American aid will only help the Ukrainian Armed Forces hold the front line, not launch attacks.
“Many experts believe that both Ukraine and Russia are exhausted by the two-year conflict and will not be able to carry out a major offensive – capable of bringing significant strategic benefits – until next year… Currently, the task of Ukrainian troops is to ‘hold the defense’ until the middle of summer when the bulk of the new supplies arrive. Then they can focus on attempts to reclaim territories recently lost in the Donetsk region,” the article says.
“It is possible… that at the end of the summer, we will see some movement, an offensive movement by the Ukrainian armed forces,” Arakhamia told AP.
However, the agency writes that military experts doubt that Ukraine has the resources to conduct even small-scale offensive operations in the near future.
Funding from the United States “is likely to only help stabilize the Ukrainian position this year and begin preparations for operations in 2025,” said Matthew Seville, Director of Military Sciences at the Royal United Services Institute.
