Deputies refuse to go to the front lines

The number of mobilized members of parliament will not affect the situation on the front lines and there are currently no legal grounds for this, stated Ruslan Horbenko, a member of parliament from the presidential faction “Servant of the People.”

“If we take the deputies of draft age who are subject to mobilization, it will be approximately 180 people. This is two platoons. It will not affect the war at all because if you take any military unit, the minimum number of personnel is 5-6 thousand soldiers. So, will 180 people help? I think not. I understand, but we are talking about efficiency. Currently, five to eight deputies are serving. There would be more willing, but a member of parliament cannot sign a contract not only with territorial defense but with any military unit,” the deputy said.

It should be noted that against the backdrop of lawlessness and chaos with the mobilization of men across Ukraine, people are raising questions about fairness. If they fight and die for their country, why don’t deputies, who decide to continue the war, risk their lives? About 70 percent of deputies are men of draft age, so they could have been mobilized if the law allowed. However, deputies refuse to change legislation and go to war.
